First of all, I would like to emphasize the reason I am writing a post dedicated to technical interviews since I have already published another post about interviews in general. The reason is the fact that many developers are disqualified in the first 15 minutes of technical conversation, wasting all the time and effort put into the selection process. Therefore, proper preparation is the key to your success.<h2>Prepare yourself in advance</h2><ol><li>Review the aimed job description, as well as the technologies and skills required. To reduce nervousness, in addition to studying a lot about the issues related to the job, I do the following:<ul><li>Bring the conversation to your own terms: every time the interviewer asks you a question, try to explain it by giving examples of how you solved a situation in previous projects using this theme. This will give you more confidence to talk about the subject (I am assuming you are a professional with previous experience).</li><li>See the interviewer as a facilitating agent: in general, at this point in the selection process, the person who will evaluate you is usually someone from the company’s technical team, in other words, your future working partner. Therefore, see this person as a colleague, rather than someone who will prevent you from getting the desired position.</li><li>Ask questions about the project you will be a part of at an appropriate time: Asking this type of question not only shows you are interested in the project but also transfers some responsibility from you to the interviewer and you may be calmer.</li></ul><h2>Live coding</h2>As mentioned at the beginning of this post, in some cases, the technical interview may happen in a Live coding format.<blockquote>Organizations are reducing costs and headcount to keep their businesses effective during the crisis, so they have changed the way they hire new employees.This fact is becoming apparent when companies are requiring live coding rather than take-home projects. This practice may not be a good criterion for evaluating the candidate’s technical skills and his value for the team, however, can say a lot about the candidate.</blockquote>The tips I bring to live coding are the following:<ol><li>Practice a lot! As simple as it may seem, the most important thing to do is practice. Even if you have a lot of programming experience, you may not be used to coding with someone watching your screen.</li><li>Don’t jump right into coding: During the interview, many developers tend to jump right into the challenge, coding from the start. Although the urge to show off your coding skills may lead you in that direction, it’s best to step back and discuss the problem at hand first. Clear all your doubts as this will not only give you a fuller understanding of what is expected but will also allow you to avoid any pitfalls during the challenge.</li><li>Keep the solution simple: in live coding, nobody really expects you to write a 100% correct code. The most important thing is to have a code that runs at the end of the challenge, even if the solution itself is suboptimal. During the challenge, demonstrate how you think about the problem, how you separate it into parts, and how you work to find the solution. Make it efficient and show that you are capable of producing a well-thought-out and designed solution.</li><li>Establish a connection with the interviewer: At the beginning of the live coding, be sure to create a connection with the interviewer. Ask questions since they want to see how you think, guiding you to the solution. Don’t be shy about asking if the approach is what he expects from you.</li><li>Write a solution before explaining it to the interviewer: one of the challenges of live coding is transitioning between writing code and talking about code with the interviewer. The sixth post in the “Work Remotely and Earn Dollars with Programming” series marks the end of the selection stage. I will talk about the technical interview that can occur in two ways: a conversation with one of the company’s technicians or live coding. Since I have more experience with the first way of interview, I will emphasize it in this article. However, I will also address important aspects of live coding. I wish everyone a good read!

Então fica claro que a preparação precisa ter bastante antecedência, caso contrário você será eliminado nas primeiras perguntas.</blockquote><h2>No dia da entrevista</h2>É muito comum a ansiedade por conta da entrevista técnicas que nada mais é uma forma de avaliar suas capacidades e experiências prévias. Para diminuir o nervosismo, além de estudar bastante os assuntos relacionados a vaga, eu faço o seguinte:<ul><li>Traga a conversa para os seus termos: toda vez que o(a) entrevistador(a) lhe fizer uma pergunta, tente explicá-la dando exemplos de como você resolveu alguma situação em projetos anteriores utilizando tal temática. Isso lhe trará mais confiança e conforto para discorrer sobre o assunto.</li><li>(Infelizmente aqui estou pressupondo que você é um profissional com experiência prévia) Encare o(a) entrevistador(a) como um agente facilitador: em geral neste ponto do processo seletivo, a pessoa que irá lhe avaliar geralmente é alguém da equipe técnica da empresa, em outras palavras, o seu futuro parceiro de trabalho. Então encare essa pessoa como tal, ao invés de alguém que irá lhe impedir de conquistar a vaga almejada.</li><li>Faça perguntas sobre o projeto que você fará parte: em momentos adequados, fazer este tipo de pergunta além de mostrar interesse de sua parte, serve também para transferir a responsabilidade da conversa de você para o entrevistador.</li></ul><h2>Live coding</h2>Conforme mencionado no início deste post, em alguns casos pode ocorrer da entrevista técnica acontecer no formato de Live coding. Apenas para contextualizar:<blockquote>As organizações estão cortando custos e reduzindo o número de funcionários para manter seus negócios eficazes durante a crise, para tanto, elas mudaram a maneira como contratam novos funcionários.Este fato está se tornando aparente pela razão de que muitas delas estão realizando live coding ao invés de projetos take-home. É assim que os empregadores estão tentando garantir uma contratação de qualidade.Embora esta prática possa não ser um bom critério para avaliar as habilidades técnicas do candidato e entender o valor que ele pode oferecer como membro da equipe, ela diz muito sobre o candidato.</blockquote>As dicas que trago para o live coding são as seguintes:<ol><li>Pratique muito! por mais simples que possa parecer, a coisa mais importante a fazer é praticar. Mesmo que você tenha muita experiência em programação, talvez não esteja acostumado a codificar com alguém observando a sua tela.</li><li>Não vá direto para a codificação: durante a entrevista, muitos desenvolvedores tendem a pular direto para o desafio, codificando desde o início. Embora a ânsia de mostrar suas habilidades de codificação possa levá-lo nessa direção, é melhor dar um passo atrás, separar um tempo e discutir o problema em questão. Tire todas as suas dúvidas, pois isso não apenas fornecerá uma compreensão mais completa do que é esperado, mas também permitirá que você evite quaisquer armadilhas durante o desafio.</li><li>Mantenha a simplicidade da solução: no live coding, ninguém realmente espera que você escreva um código 100% correto. O mais importante é ter um código que seja executado no final do desafio, mesmo que a solução em si esteja abaixo do ideal. Durante o desafio, demonstre como você pensa sobre o problema, como o divide em partes e como trabalha para encontrar a solução. Torne-o eficiente e demonstre que você é capaz de produzir uma solução bem pensada e projetada.</li><li>Estabeleça uma conexão com o entrevistador: no início do live coding, certifique-se de criar uma conexão com o entrevistador. Faça o máximo de perguntas possível. Eles querem ver como você pensa e o guiarão para chegar à solução. Não tenha vergonha de perguntar se a abordagem é o que ele espera de você.</li><li>Escreva uma solução antes de explicá-la ao entrevistador: um dos desafios do live coding é transitar entre escrever código e falar sobre código com o entrevistador. Para desenvolvedores que não são treinados, essa prática interrompe o fluxo da codificação, fazendo com que eles pulem etapas no live coding que não pulariam em um ambiente real.</li></ol><h2>Para ir além</h2>Recomendo rever as dicas e informações sobre entrevistas em geral, elas serão de grande utilidade para a entrevista técnica também. <h2>Preparation of an IT project: some important points</h2>When applying for a job that requires project preparation:<ol><li>Have knowledge and full control of what is being developed: That’s why I recommend you to apply for jobs in which you already have previous experience in the specific programming language requested.</li><li>If any information is missing or unclear, you can and might consult the recruiter (sometimes they will not provide such information). However, it is important to be proactive, checking if the requirements make sense and are possible to be complete. Example: In one test, the project description required me to use a currency conversion API that was down. Instead of waiting for the evaluators to mention this fact, I found another API that could replace the one mentioned in the project scope and I suggested its use to the evaluators.</li><li>Review the content related to the prerequisites for the job a few days before starting the project (for example, if the job requires developing projects including PHP applications, review this content). They will serve as a reference to show what the company is waiting for.</li><li>During the test, objectively plan each step to be developed, prioritizing mandatory criteria and, later, bonuses. Usually, the project instructions are sent to you in organized topics.&nbsp;</li><li>Make sure each requirement is working properly and securely, for this:</li></ol>Fig 1. Don’t reinvent the requirements and avoid pre-existing code generation tools in the framework (e.g. database migrations, basic crud generation, autoloading, etc.). This will delay your coding process and lower your score.</li><li>Use good programming practices: meaningful names for objects, methods, functions, variables, paths, etc [Fig. 1 and Fig. 2].</li><li>Make code comments in essential snippets, some companies complain about excessive code comments. But do not leave your code uncommented either, the key here is balance.</li><li>Always use clean or friendly URLs (simple, easy-to-remember addresses, taking the user exactly where they want in your project).</li><li>Avoid using absolute paths.</li><li>Always review the project several times before submitting: The first time, check that all requirements are complete, a second time check for warnings in the project that could cause errors in more complex test cases, a third time check if there are any errors or comments that are not important and clean up your code.</li></ul>Fig 2. Attention: sometimes the project submission can be another way that does not include the online repository submission.Add installation instructions (if applicable) by creating a README.md file and the script (source code) in a separate file if needed. These instructions should include any installation requirements to get your project running. For example: In a project developed using the LAMP stack, anything beyond a basic installation (Apache, PHP, and MySQL) must be included in the README.md file.<blockquote>A README.md file makes the project more professional and clear for the evaluators to understand.</blockquote>Be sure to add the appropriate commands for a possible test (if applicable).<h2>Project evaluation</h2> Em geIn general, the company uses other developers to evaluate projects. The evaluation criteria are usually:<ul><li>Project correctness: Do the mandatory features work?</li><li>Architecture used: Does the project have a software architecture? Is the project scalable and use design patterns? Do classes have single responsibility?</li><li>Good programming practices: Is the code easy to understand and properly commented on? Are there significant names? Automated tests: have automated tests been developed? Is there code coverage?</li><li>Code efficiency: Sometimes the project must run within a time limit, but this is not always required.</li></ul><h2>Examples of projects</h2>Chatbot system, blog builder, any front-end application that needs to consume data from an external service (API), extract reports through complex database queries, or even a mini-app.<ul><li>If the project involves implementing a database, check the project description for the database engine that will be used, and do not forget to provide instructions for installation.</li><li>If you need to use a framework to implement the project, follow its standard structure, without using too many customizations.</li><li>If the project involves a front end, try to use the best practices such as ATOMIC design, ensuring that the front end components are generic enough to be reused.</li></ul><h2>Extra tips</h2>The project development has a deadline pre-defined by the company, which can last from a few hours to a few days for its elaboration. In general, you tell the recruiter when you will start the project and the time will start to run from this moment.<blockquote>The suggestion here is: if you don’t have enough time to implement all the mandatory features, try to negotiate with the company for an extension of time.</blockquote>One last important tip is: If the project to be developed is a web, together with the source code, deliver a link to the application running. This makes the correction easier for the evaluator, as they won’t have to install the project locally. Examples of hosts for web applications are Vercel and Heroku. In this post, we will talk about the selection process phase in which some companies will request you to elaborate on an IT project. In this project, the company will assess your ability to understand the project requirements, structure a project from the beginning, originality in resolution, software architecture, and versatility in the use of different technologies. In addition, the developer’s ability to prepare a project containing an organized, complete, efficient, and error-free code will be evaluated.

<h2>Elaboração de um projeto de TI: alguns pontos importantes</h2> Ao se aplicar à uma vaga que requer a elaboração de um projeto:<ol><li>Tenha conhecimento e controle do que está sendo desenvolvido: Por isso recomendo você se aplicar às vagas para as quais você já tenha experiência prévia em uma linguagem de programação específica que seja pedida.</li><li>Caso alguma informação esteja ausente ou não esteja clara, você pode e deve consultar o recrutador (às vezes eles não fornecerão tal informação). Contudo, é importante que você tenha proatividade, no sentido de checar se os requisitos fazem sentido e se são possíveis de serem completados. Ao invés de esperar os avaliadores mencionarem este fato, encontrei uma outra API que pudesse substituir a mencionada no escopo do projeto e fiz a sugestão do seu uso para os avaliadores.&nbsp;</li><li>Revise os conteúdos relacionados aos pré-requisitos para a vaga alguns dias antes de realizar o projeto (por exemplo, se a vaga requer desenvolvimento de projetos incluindo aplicações em PHP, revise este conteúdo). Eles servirão como referência para mostrar o que a empresa está esperando.</li><li>Durante o teste, planeje de forma objetiva cada etapa a ser desenvolvida, com prioridade aos critérios obrigatórios e posteriormente, os bônus. Geralmente as instruções para o projeto já são enviadas para você de forma organizada em tópicos, certifique-se de que cumpriu cada um deles. Tenha certeza de que cada requisito está funcionando adequadamente de forma segura, para isso:</li></ol> Fig 1. Isso apenas atrasará seu processo de codificação e diminuirá sua pontuação.</li><li>Utilize as boas práticas na programação: &nbsp;nomes significativos para objetos, métodos, funções, variáveis, caminhos, etc [Fig. 1 e Fig. 2].</li><li>Faça comentários no código nos trechos essenciais, algumas empresas reclamam do excesso de comentários nos códigos. Mas também não deixe o seu código sem comentários, a chave aqui é o balanço.</li><li>Use sempre URLs limpas ou amigáveis (endereços simples, fáceis de lembrar e que levam o usuário exatamente aonde ele deseja no seu projeto).</li><li>Evite usar caminhos absolutos.</li><li>Sempre revise o projeto várias vezes antes de enviar: Da primeira vez, revise se todos os requisitos foram cumpridos, em uma segunda vez verifique se há warnings no projeto que possam vir a ocasionar erros em casos de teste mais complexos, em uma terceira vez verifique se há algum erro ou comentário que não seja importante e faça uma limpeza no seu código.</li></ul> Fig 2. Mas atenção: às vezes a entrega pode ser de outra forma que não inclua a submissão em um repositório online.Adicione instruções de instalação (se aplicável) criando um arquivo README.md e o script (código-fonte) em uma pasta separada, se necessário. Essas instruções devem incluir quaisquer requisitos de instalação para fazer seu projeto rodar. Por exemplo: Em um projeto desenvolvido utilizando a stack LAMP, qualquer coisa além de uma instalação básica do Apache, PHP e MySQL devem ser incluídos no arquivo README.md. Certifique-se de adicionar os comandos apropriados para um possível teste (se aplicável).<blockquote>Um arquivo README.md torna o projeto mais profissional e claro de ser compreendido pelos avaliadores.</blockquote><h2>Avaliação do projeto</h2> Em geral, a empresa utiliza outros desenvolvedores para avaliar o seu projeto. Os critérios de avaliação normalmente são:<ul><li>Corretude do projeto: as funcionalidades obrigatórias realmente funcionam?</li><li>Arquitetura utilizada: o projeto desenvolvido possui uma arquitetura de software? é escalável? utiliza padrões de projeto? as classes possuem responsabilidade única?</li><li>Boas práticas de programação: o código é fácil de entender? está comentado? Possui nomes significativos?</li><li>Testes automatizados: foram desenvolvidos testes automatizados? Possui cobertura de código?</li><li>Eficiência do código: às vezes o projeto deve rodar dentro de um limite de tempo, mas nem sempre se pede isso.</li></ul><h2> Exemplos de projetos</h2> Sistema de chatbot, Construtor de blog, alguma aplicação front-end que necessite consumir dados de um serviço externo (API), extração de relatórios por meio de consultas complexas em banco de dados, ou até mesmo um mini app.<ul><li>Se o projeto envolver a implementação de um banco de dados, verifique na descrição do projeto qual é o mecanismo de banco de dados que deverá ser utilizado e não se esqueça de informar as instruções para a instalação.</li><li>Caso você precise utilizar um framework para implementar o projeto,siga a estrutura padrão dele, sem utilizar muitas customizações.</li><li>Se o projeto envolver front-end, busque utilizar boas práticas tais como o ATOMIC design e garanta que os componentes do front são genéricos o suficiente para poderem ser reutilizados.</li></ul><h2> Dicas extras</h2> A elaboração de um projeto tem um prazo pré-definido pela empresa, podendo durar de algumas horas até alguns dias para sua elaboração. Em geral, você informa ao recrutador quando irá iniciar o projeto e a partir daí o tempo começa a correr.<blockquote>A sugestão aqui é: caso não haja tempo de implementar todas as funcionalidades obrigatórias, tente negociar com a empresa uma extensão de prazo.</blockquote>Uma última dica importante é: caso o projeto a ser desenvolvido seja web, juntamente com o código-fonte entregue um link para a aplicação rodando. Isso facilita a vida do avaliador, pois não terá que instalar o seu projeto localmente. Exemplo de hosts para aplicações web são o Vercel e o Heroku. When applying for a software development position, possibly you will be required to perform a code challenge, and investing some preparation time here is important.The code challenge preparation goes beyond just programming, it involves several aspects I will address below, including:<ul><li>Understand the question command;</li><li>Time management;</li><li>Structure a solution;</li><li>Test the developed algorithm;</li><li>Explain the approach used.</li></ul>First, find here a image showing the general structure of the code challenge environment:Fig 1. Example of a code challenge environmentIn [Fig. 1] we can see that the code challenge environment is composed of the following elements:<ol><li>Command of the question: the most important aspect since without a full understanding of the problem, it will be impossible to solve the algorithm properly.</li><li>Choice of programming language: in general, code challenge platforms offer a wide variety of programming languages. The main ones are Java, Javascript, PHP, C, C++, and others. Important: if you choose to change the programming language in the middle of the test, all the previous work will be lost, so choose the language carefully before starting to program and avoid changing it!</li><li>Code editor: the part in which you will spend most of the time. In general, the editors are modern, with row and column counters, some even include the programming language’s auto-completion function, but do not rely on this option.</li><li>Buttons for submitting the developed code: at the end of the algorithm or even during its development, you can always check if your code is compiling correctly and if is passing in the tests.</li></ol>After this overview about the code challenge environment, let’s go to the crucial points regarding the preparation for the test.<h2>Understand the question command!</h2>Before skipping steps and going into the coding mode, take a few minutes to understand what the question is all about.<h3>Fig 2. In this section, you will receive precisely what these formats are. In the case of [Fig. 2], the problem states that the input will consist of 4 lines, the first will be an integer representing age, the second will be a lowercase string representing the student’s name, the third will also be a string lowercase representing the student’s last name, and finally, the last line will be an integer representing the average of their grades. Additionally, a note indicates that the strings will not exceed more than 50 characters. &nbsp;</li><li>Sample input/output: Here, the question statement will give you an example of both the input and output of data, namely: Input 15 = age john = name carmack = surname 10 = average of grades</li></ol>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Output &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;15 &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;carmack, john &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;10&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;15, john, carmack, 10Understanding how to receive, process, and return data is crucial here. Without this understanding, you will not be able to progress through the problem. I usually invest the first 5 minutes of the code challenge to understand the problem.<h2>Time management</h2><ul><li>First 5 minutes: focus on understanding the problem;</li><li>Next 5 minutes: mentally organize the solution with a paper and a pen;</li><li>Next 35 minutes: code the first version of the algorithm, as simple as possible, and improve if there is time. An important tip:</li><li>Always run the program to see if it is compiling correctly and get ‘typos’ right away;</li><li>Last 15 minutes: Verify if the algorithm passes in all available test cases. Usually, the algorithm passes only in some tests, but not others. Try to use this final time to make the last adjustments.</li></ul>Note: I’m assuming that the code challenge model you came across doesn’t have an item asking you to explain your approach, as well as the asymptotic complexity of your algorithm. Be aware that this may show up on your test!<h2>Structure a solution</h2>Once you understand the problem statement, now is the time to get your hands dirty!A very efficient method for solving problems is the Pólya method. It is based on a few steps:<ol><li>Understand the problem (done!)</li><li>Make a plan</li><li>Execute the plan</li><li>Look back</li></ol>In practice, the plan elaboration can be a draft of the solution (pseudocode).Pseudocode is a simple description of the steps in an algorithm. In other words, your pseudocode is your step-by-step plan for how to solve the problem.Write down the steps you need to take to solve the problem. For a more complicated problem, you will include more steps. Here’s an example:<pre><code class="language-plaintext">// Create a sum variable.

Add the first input to the second input using the addition operator.

// Store value of both inputs into sum variable.

// Return as output the sum variable.</code></pre>Now that you have a step-by-step plan for solving the problem, it’s time to code. Unfortunately in this part, I can’t help you much, you will need to be sharp on your chosen programming language to avoid wasting time trying to remember the syntax of commands. That’s why I recommend a lot of training before starting the code challenge!Use <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.hackerrank.com/">Hackerrank</a> and<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://leetcode.com/"> Leetcode</a> platforms to practice in advance.<h2>Test the developed algorithm</h2>Now that we’ve reached the final part of the code challenge, it’s time to submit our work to the test! Therefore, the last step is to test the developed algorithm and see if it passed the tests. [Fig. 3] shows examples of test results:<h3>Fig 3. Examples of algorithms that failed and passed the tests:</h3>If one or more tests fail equally to [Fig. 3A] after running them, you will need to check the specific test that failed by clicking the tab corresponding to it. Unfortunately, some of the tests are hidden and have a lock, so you can not see the complete input data. Therefore, it is essential to plan your algorithm before coding it, thinking about possible errors.If all tests are successfully equal to [Fig. 3B], congratulations! You are ready to submit your solution. If there isn’t an extra question asking you to explain the approach used in your algorithm, use the remaining time you have to polish your code.<h2>Explain the approach used</h2>On rare occasions, I’ve come across extra questions asking to explain the approach used in the algorithm, as well as its asymptotic complexity. If you don’t understand this concept well, I strongly suggest you study it before starting the code challenge. In post 4 of the series Work Remotely and Earn Dollars with Programming, we will cover the preparation for the famous code challenge in more detail.

Ao se candidatar a uma vaga de desenvolvimento de software, as chances são altas de que você será solicitado a fazer pelo menos um code challenge. Inicialmente, o code challenge parecerá algo assustador para alguém que não se preparou. É por isso que investir algum tempo de preparo prévio é importante aqui.O preparo vai além de somente programar, ele envolve uma série de aspectos que irei abordar a seguir, entre eles:<ul><li>Entender o comando da questão;</li><li>Gestão de tempo;</li><li>Estruturar uma solução;</li><li>Testar o algoritmo desenvolvido;</li><li>Saber explicar a abordagem utilizada.</li></ul>Mas antes coloco aqui uma imagem mostrando a estrutura geral do ambiente utilizado para o code challenge:Fig 1. Exemplo do ambiente de um code chellengeNa [Fig. 1] podemos observar que o ambiente do code challenge é composto pelos seguintes elementos:<ol><li>Comando da questão: esta área é a mais importante, uma vez que sem o pleno entendimento do problema será inviável resolver o algoritmo apropriadamente.</li><li>Escolha da linguagem de programação: em geral as plataformas de code challenge oferecem uma grande variedade de linguagens de programação, sendo as principais Java, Javascript, PHP, C, C++ e várias outras. Importante: caso você opte por alterar a linguagem de programação no meio do teste, todo o trabalho desenvolvido anteriormente será perdido, então escolham a linguagem antes de começar a programar e evitem alterá-la!</li><li>Editor de código: aqui será o local onde você passará a maior parte do tempo do code challenge, em geral os editores são modernos contando com contadores de linhas e colunas e alguns até trazem a função de auto-completar da linguagem de programação, mas não contem com esta opção.</li><li>Botões para submissão do código desenvolvido: ao finalizar o algoritmo ou até mesmo durante o desenvolvimento do mesmo, você sempre poderá checar se o seu código está compilando corretamente e se está passando nos testes.</li></ol>Após essa visão geral do ambiente do code challenge, vamos aos pontos cruciais na preparação para o teste.<h2>Entenda o comando da questão!</h2>Antes de pular etapas e ir no modo go-horse para a codificação, separe alguns minutos para compreender qual é o objetivo da questão.<h3>Fig 2. Nesta seção você receberá com precisão quais são esses formatos, no caso da [Fig. 2] o problema informa que a entrada de dados será composta por 4 linhas, na qual a primeira será um número inteiro representando a idade, a segunda será uma cadeia de caracteres minúsculos representando o nome do aluno, a terceira também será uma cadeia de caracteres minúsculos representando o sobrenome do aluno, e por fim a última linha será um número inteiro representando a média de suas notas. Além disso, o problema traz uma nota informando que as cadeias de caracteres não excederão mais de 50 caracteres.</li><li>Sample input/output: aqui o enunciado da questão te dará um exemplo concreto tanto da entrada como da saída de dados, a saber: Entrada 15 = idade john = nome carmack = sobrenome 10 = média das notas</li></ol>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Saída &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;15 &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;carmack, john &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;10&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;15,john,carmack,10&nbsp;Entender a problemática da questão, como receber, processar e devolver os dados é crucial aqui. Sem esse entendimento você não conseguirá progredir no problema. Pessoalmente, eu invisto os primeiros 5 minutos do code challenge para entender o problema.<h2>Gestão de tempo</h2><ul><li>Primeiros 5 minutos: foco total em entender a questão;</li><li>Próximos 5 minutos: organizar mentalmente a solução com papel e caneta;</li><li>Próximos 35 minutos: codificar o algoritmo, a primeira versão dele da forma mais simples possível e ir aprimorando se houver tempo. Uma dica importante aqui é sempre rodar o programa para ver se o mesmo está compilando corretamente e já pegar typos logo de cara;</li><li>Últimos 15 minutos: verificar se o algoritmo passa em todos os casos de teste disponibilizados. É muito comum após o término da codificação, o algoritmo passar em alguns casos de teste e em outros não, tente utilizar esse tempo final para fazer os últimos ajustes.</li></ul>Nota: aqui estou pressupondo que no modelo do code challenge que você se deparou não tenha um item pedindo para você explicar a sua abordagem, assim como a complexidade assintótica do seu algoritmo. Esteja ciente que isso pode aparecer no seu teste!<h2>Estruturar uma solução</h2>Após entender o enunciado do problema, agora é hora de colocar a mão na massa!Um método bastante eficiente para resolução de problemas, é o método de Pólya. Ele é baseado em algumas etapas:<ol><li>Entenda o problema (feito!)</li><li>Elabore um plano</li><li>Execute o plano</li><li>Olhe para trás</li></ol>Na prática, a elaboração do plano pode ser um rascunho da solução em pseudocódigo.Pseudocódigo é uma descrição em linguagem simples das etapas de um algoritmo. Em outras palavras, seu pseudocódigo é seu plano passo a passo de como resolver o problema.Escreva as etapas que você precisa seguir para resolver o problema. Para um problema mais complicado, você terá mais etapas. Segue um exemplo de como você pode escrever:<pre><code class="language-plaintext">// Create a sum variable.

// Return as output the sum variable.</code></pre>Agora que você tem um plano passo a passo para resolver o problema, está na hora de realmente codificar. Infelizmente nesta parte eu não posso te ajudar muito, você precisará estar afiado na linguagem de programação escolhida para evitar perder tempo tentando lembra a sintax dos comandos. Por isso recomendo bastante treino antes de partir para o code challenge!Utilize as plataformas <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.hackerrank.com/">Hackerrank</a> e <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://leetcode.com/">Leetcode</a> para praticar com antecedência.<h2>Testar o algoritmo desenvolvido</h2>Agora que chegamos na reta final do code challenge está na hora de colocar o trabalho desenvolvido a prova! A última etapa é testar o algoritmo desenvolvido e ver se ele passou nos testes. A [Fig. 3] mostra exemplos de como os resultados dos testes são demonstrados:<h3>Fig 3. Exemplos de algoritmos que falaharam e que passaram nos testes</h3>Caso após a execução dos testes um ou mais deles falharem igual a [Fig. 3A], você precisará checar o teste específico que falhou clicando na aba correspondente a ele. Infelizmente alguns dos testes são escondidos e possuem um cadeado, então não será possível visualizar o input completo dos dados. Daí vem a importância de planejar o seu algoritmo antes de codificá-lo e pensar em possíveis casos de erro.Se todos os testes forem bem sucedidos igual a [Fig. 3B], parabéns! Você está pronto para submeter a sua solução. Caso não haja uma questão extra pedindo para explicar a abordagem utilizada no seu algoritmo, utilize o tempo restante caso tenha para dar uma polida no seu código.<h2>Explicar a abordagem utilizada</h2>Em algumas ocasiões mais raras, me deparei com questões extras pedindo para explicar a abordagem utilizada no algoritmo assim como sua complexidade assintótica. Caso você não entenda bem este conceito, sugiro fortemente que o estude antes de partir para o code challenge. Many candidates prioritize the tests or projects that companies apply. However, the interview is also an important and eliminatory stage, since the recruiter will assess the candidate’s ability to understand and communicate with the client and the team.First of all, it is essential to understand the recruiter profile you are going to talk to. Based on my experience, in this first contact with the “Tech Recruiter”, you will usually deal with a less technical profile, that is, a person who understands more about human behavior and less about technology (of course you can face some exceptions here!). In other words, the recruiter will not ask you to solve an algorithm during the conversation, however will try to understand you as a person and as a professional who can work as a team and add value to the team.<h2>A fluid and informative conversation with the recruiter helps to ensure good results.</h2>Therefore, a key point is to communicate clearly about:<ul><li>Your past experiences: don’t forget to talk about how well you related to your team (recruiters value this).</li><li>Technologies used in your career: comment about how many years of experience you have in these technologies.</li><li>Projects that provided you challenges and growth: comment about how much you are interested in new challenges (for example: learning new technologies and working with people from all over the world).</li><li>Your plans: your journey in IT so far and how you think about growing even more as an IT professional.</li></ul>The first contact in English can bring a load of anxiety and nervousness, interfering a lot in the interaction with the recruiter. In the third post in the Work Remotely Earn Dollars with Programming series, we’ll go into more detail about preparing for the initial tech recruiter interview and bring you an exclusive tip.

Muitos candidatos costumam priorizar os testes ou projetos que as empresas aplicam. No entanto, a entrevista inicial também é uma etapa importante e eliminatória, uma vez que nesta, o recrutador irá avaliar a capacidade de compreensão e comunicação do candidato (tanto com o cliente quanto com a equipe).Antes de mais nada é fundamental entender qual é o perfil da pessoa com quem você irá conversar. Com base em minha experiência, geralmente neste primeiro contato com o/a “Tech Recruiter”, você irá lidar com uma pessoa com um perfil menos técnico, ou seja, pessoas que entendem mais de comportamento humano e menos de tecnologia (claro que podemos ter exceções aqui!). <h2>How to knock on the right doors?</h2>We mentioned in the previous post that searching for remote jobs in IT starts with Linkedin connections (if you missed post 1 of this series, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://ibti.tech/blog/en/how-to-work-remotely-and-earn-dollars-with-programming-pt1/">click here to access it</a>). In addition, you already know about the basic prerequisites to apply for a remote position (in the first post we guided you to the creation of your Linkedin profile in English). It is worth remembering to invest in details of your previous experiences, as well as taking the tests to validate your curriculum skills on LinkedIn.Now it’s time to learn how to use LinkedIn Jobs [Fig. 1]. This is a tool that allows you to search for work or projects using a filter by region, area of ​​expertise, technologies, etc (Fig.2). For example, I am applying the filters: a) remote position in Germany, b) senior-level, c) using Java programming language, or a) remote internship b) in Brazil c) using Phyton language.Since the tool uses your Linkedin data, the user does not have to repeat all the information provided once. In other words, you can use your LinkedIn profile to apply to different Jobs: search for a job by positions and regions of interest (the tool also suggests different jobs according to your interests). If the job is interesting to you, apply to it and wait for the company’s response. Realistically, about 5-10% of companies will give you a return, so always try other options, don’t give up.Fig 1. Use the different fields to filter the positions that interest you the most. For example: select only remote positions and positions from countries other than Brazil to find remote positions abroad.Fig 3. You can use Grammarly as an English correction tool (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://app.grammarly.com">https://app.grammarly.com</a>) and never send data in Portuguese, including your resume.Tip 2: If your colleague works for a certain company you want to apply for, don’t be embarrassed: ask him/her for a recommendation to insert on your profile. Also, ask him/her to refer you to his/her company.Tip 3: The Easy Apply tool allows you to submit your resume to a job position without registering your data on the company’s website again (unlike the “Apply Now” tool, in which LinkedIn redirects you to the company’s website for registration). Therefore, before selecting “Easy Apply”, make sure your resume is in the updated English version. (This does not mean that the company will not require future registration and subsequent interviews).Tip 4: Remember to turn on the Job alert [Fig. 3].<h2>Understanding the structure of a selection process</h2>If the first contact with the company works, you will face the following process:I) Interview with HR: The company will evaluate your ability to communicate in English, as well as your general professional experience. You can hear questions like:<ul><li>Comment about a project you participated in and you are proud of;</li><li>What is the main challenge you have faced in your career?</li><li>What are your main contributions to this specific project you participated in?</li><li>What do you expect in your professional future?</li><li>How can you contribute to achieving this specific goal?</li><li>Comment on similar projects you’ve already developed</li></ul>Answering interviewers’ questions require practice and technique. Access the link below to find out how to answer these and other questions and be successful in these interviews:II) If the recruiter is interested in you, the next phase (usually) is technical and may include different formats, including:a. Code challenge: in general, they are algorithms or data structures tests, which are done on platforms, such as <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.hackerrank.com/">Hackerrank</a> and <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://leetcode.com/">Leetcode</a>. The person is evaluated on the ability to develop logical reasoning and algorithm under time pressure, bringing the best solution. Failing to answer a question is practically disqualifying here. Usually, big companies like Amazon and Google apply Code challenges (It is recommended to prepare yourself for the Amazon or Google test at least six months in advance). I also suggest talking to people who have already done these tests. If you don’t succeed on a first attempt, you may succeed on a second attempt. However, the company generally allows you to develop a new project (or a new test) only 6 months to 2 years after doing it for the first time. Therefore, it is worth asking the company for feedback to improve the requisites that may have resulted in your disqualification.b. Project (take home): Here, you will face a short project or some specific module to be solved in a few days or a few hours. They will evaluate your ability to code in the technology of interest, as well as analyze your coding pattern (if you use the best programming practices, comment the code, format the code, etc). Your maturity regarding the project architecture is also evaluated (if you correctly use Object Orientation, design patterns, atomic design, etc). Not doing all the requisites requested in the project scope may not be disqualifying, but it is important to be aware of what is mandatory and what is optional.c. Technical interview: Usually, this is a conversation with someone on the team who will ask you general questions (about projects you’ve developed in the past) and; or technical and specific questions, such as how to resolve collisions with Hashtable. These questions vary widely according to the company and interviewer.d. Live-coding: This mode is one of the most challenging since you will need to solve a real problem while being viewed on your webcam and sharing your computer screen. The challenge can include writing pseudocodes to solve a simple algorithm or even creating modules for the company’s project. These codes also vary widely according to the company and evaluators.III) Interview with the client: Depending on the company that is hiring you (outsourced or not), the last step is generally a conversation with the client or with the product team (this depends on the company structure and the project in which you will be allocated). When you reach this stage, you are very close to the end, but be very careful: always be prepared for the worst types of questions. In this second post of the Work Remotely and Earn in Dollars with Programming series, I’ll talk about how to use Linkedin as a tool to search for remote jobs and general information about the selection process for developers.

<h2>Como bater nas portas certas?</h2>Foi mencionado no post anterior que o início da busca de trabalhos remotos em TI começa com conexões no Linkedin (caso tenham perdido a primeira parte desta série, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://ibti.tech/blog/como-conseguir-trabalho-remoto-ti-pt1/">clique aqui para acessar a parte 1</a>). Além disso, vocês já conhecem a respeito dos pré-requisitos básicos para se candidatar a tão esperada vaga remota no exterior (no primeiro post orientamos a criação do Linkedin em inglês e investir no detalhamento das experiências anteriores, e também fazer os testes para validar as skills do currículo).Agora é hora de aprender a utilizar a ferramenta Jobs do Linkedin [Fig. 1]. Este é um recurso que permite buscar trabalho ou projetos utilizando um filtro de região, área de atuação, tecnologias etc. Por exemplo, trabalho na Alemanha, programador sênior, linguagem de programação Java ou até Estágio no Brasil em Javascript.A ferramenta utiliza seus dados do Linkedin, evitando que o usuário tenha que repetir todas as suas informações novamente. Ou seja, utilize o seu perfil do Linkedin para se aplicar a diferentes Jobs. Feito isso, inicie a busca pela posição e região de interesse (a ferramenta também sugere os cargos relacionados ao do seu interesse). Caso o cargo seja interessante para você, se candidate e espere a resposta da empresa. Sendo realista, cerca de 5 a 10% das empresas irão te dar um retorno, então tente outras opções, não desista.Fig 1. Utiliza os diversos campos para filtrar as vagas que mais lhe interessem. Por exemplo: selecione apenas vagas remotas e de países diferentes do Brasil para encontrar posições remotas no exterior.Fig 2. Também peça para que o mesmo te indique na empresa.Dica 4: A ferramenta Easy Apply permite que você submeta seu currículo cadastrado sem precisar fazer cadastro no site da empresa (diferente da ferramenta Apply Now, na qual o linkedin te redireciona para o site da empresa). Portanto, antes de selecionar “Easy Apply”, certifique que seu currículo está na versão em inglês. (Não quer dizer que a “Easy Apply” não necessitará de cadastros e entrevistas posteriores).Dica 5: Lembre-se de ligar o Job alert [Fig. 3].<h2>Entendendo a estrutura de um processo seletivo</h2>Caso o primeiro contato com a empresa funcione, em geral temos o seguinte processo:I) Entrevista geral com o RH: (general assessment) Aqui a você será avaliado pela capacidade de conversação em inglês, assim como terá a sua experiência profissional avaliada como um todo. Perguntas como:<ul><li>Quais são os projetos que você mais se orgulha na sua profissão?</li><li>Qual o principal desafio que você já enfrentou?</li><li>Quais suas principais contribuições neste projeto que participou?</li><li>Atualmente, o que você visa em seu futuro profissional?</li><li>Como você pode contribuir para alcançar este objetivo específico?</li><li>Comente sobre projetos semelhantes que você já desenvolveu.</li></ul>Responder as perguntas dos entrevistadores exigem estrutura e técnica. Code challenge: em geral são testes de algoritmos e estrutura de dados que são feitos em plataformas como <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.hackerrank.com/">Hackerrank</a> e <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://leetcode.com/">Leetcode</a>. A pessoa é avaliada sobre a capacidade de desenvolver um raciocínio lógico e algoritmo sob pressão de tempo, trazendo a melhor solução possível. Deixar de responder alguma questão aqui, é praticamente desclassificatório. Geralmente empresas maiores como a Amazon e a Google aplicam Code challenge (e são bastante exigentes). É recomendado se preparar para os mesmos pelo menos seis meses antes. Também sugiro coletar dicas das pessoas que já realizaram estes testes. Se não passar em uma primeira tentativa, pode ser que tenha sucesso em uma segunda tentativa; no entanto, a empresa geralmente só disponibiliza um novo projeto (ou um novo teste) 6 meses a 2 anos após ter realizado pela primeira vez, portanto vale a pena pedir um feedback à empresa para melhorar nos pontos que podem ter resultado em sua desclassificação.b. Projeto (take home): aqui os avaliadores te entregam um projeto curto, de ponta-a-ponta ou algum módulo específico para ser resolvido em alguns dias ou algumas horas. Eles irão avaliar a sua capacidade de codificar na tecnologia de interesse, além de entender como é o seu padrão de código (se usa boas práticas ou não, se comenta, formatação, etc). Também é avaliada sua maturidade em termos de arquitetura, e se você se usa bem Orientação a Objetos OOP, design patterns, atomic design, etc. Não fazer todas as features pedidas no escopo do projeto pode não ser desclassificatório, mas é bom ficar atento ao que é obrigatório e ao que é opcional.c. Entrevista técnica: em geral é uma conversa com alguém da equipe que irá fazer perguntas que podem ser gerais (sobre projetos que você desenvolveu no passado) até perguntas técnicas e específicas, do tipo, como resolver colisões com Hashtable. Isso varia muito do entrevistador.d. Live-coding: essa modalidade é uma das mais desafiadoras, pois aqui você precisa resolver um problema real enquanto está sendo visto pela webcam e com a sua tela do computador compartilhada. O desafio pode variar desde escrever um pseudocódigo para resolver um algoritmo simples, até mesmo criar módulos para o projeto da empresa. Essa etapa também varia muito dos avaliadores.III) Entrevista com o cliente: Dependendo da empresa que está o contratando ( terceirizada ou não) a última etapa é quase sempre uma conversa com o cliente ou com o time do produto (isto depende da estrutura da empresa e do projeto no qual você será alocado). Ao chegar nesta etapa você já está muito próximo da almejada vaga internacional remota, mas cuidado para não se descuidar aqui, sempre esteja preparado para os piores tipos de perguntas possíveis, afinal, uma dose de preparação nunca é demais. The starting point and the ending point are not necessarily physical places, after all, for developers, the world is not a static place and regardless of where we are, we can reprogram the code for our success. To achieve this success, a strategy of crossing ‘virtual’ boundaries has been incorporated into the lives of many IT professionals. In 2020, &nbsp;remote jobs increased exponentially, unlike previous years, in which there was only a small increase in these positions. The trend is increasing even more, despite the fact that many companies still require face-to-face work, according to an analysis developed by Rinzewind [Fig. 1].Fig 1. For example, I organize my day as follows:<ol><li>Time for work meetings (on average 1h to 1:30h per day)</li><li>Time to update yourself with the main market demands (i.e. courses and reading) (on average 1 hour per day)</li><li>Time to work in projects: personal projects and/or projects related to a company (on average 5 hours per day)</li><li>Time to plan your professional future, according with your ‘dreams’, (i.e. writing a project or planning the creation of a IT company) (at least 1 hour a day)</li></ol><h2>Comparison of developers salaries in different countries</h2>Brazil is not one of the countries that pay less to their programmers, but as you can see in the table below [Table 1], other countries, such as Norway, Denmark, and the United States, pay almost twice as Brazil to their developers.Why are so many Indians working remotely? Is it worth working remotely for Portuguese companies? See the table below and comment your opinion below:Table 1. The gross values ​​in this table are equivalent to the average salary of a senior-level developer.Note that the amounts are converted to dollars for this list.Another interesting piece of information is: Recently, Canada is adopting a strategy of hiring Brazilians to work in the country. However, it is necessary to speak French, at least to work in the Quebec region (not just English). (For more information see the Canadian Government’s official website). A positive point for these face-to-face positions is living in a country with an excellent quality of life (despite the cold weather). Moreover, the company pays the work visa for you and your partner and offers you a competitive salary.Another point that I found relevant to reflect here:Why do programmers at PHP, R, SQL usually receive less (on average) than Javascript programmers? One aspect (but not a rule) is that the most common languages ​​(most used by developers) can be devalued over time. Therefore, it is worth investing in languages ​​with a higher barrier to entry, like C++ (especially if you want to earn in euro in Germany or Austria). Of course, after an interview (usually in English), these companies will send you an algorithm test to be developed, schedule a live-coding session, and/or demand a project to be executed (which can vary from a few hours to a week to be developed). It is noteworthy that foreign companies are extremely detail-oriented, so any incorrect code can lead to disapproval.In the next posts in this series, I will talk about the selection process for foreign companies.One positive point is that many European companies do not require a local language (such as German), but they do require fluent English. For example, I first recommend starting as an intern at a specific company (aligned with your purposes). When you feel prepared, I suggest you look for a higher position (at this company or in another company).Some companies offer modern equipment for remote jobs and a possibility of higher salaries after a few months (click here for exclusive content). Furthermore, after a short period of experience in these foreign companies, a range of opportunities begin to emerge: jobs more aligned with your purposes and professional growth. For example, instead of targeting a job that pays $10,000 a month (wide possibility of rejection), aim for a job that pays $2,000 a month, gain experience, knowledge, and confidence, and then move on to the next step when you’re ready ( click here for exclusive content). The vast majority of developers who currently work at big software companies have gone through small startups to gain prior experience.<h2>Prerequisites for becoming a remote developer</h2>Being a remote professional, working from home, and still earning in dollars is very attractive. However, everything that is good is not easy. Throughout my experience as a remote developer, I raised the following requirements to work remotely:<ul><li>The technical domain of tools and technologies: I am assuming that you are an IT professional with some time of experience;</li><li>Intermediate English: Communication is an essential part of every job, and for a remote position it is even more important since the teams are spread around the world. Being able to understand ideas and concepts, as well as explain a project’s functionality (even at an intermediate level) is essential to get a remote job and to be successful over time. Click here to see some platforms for conversation;</li><li>Fast and stable internet connection: Throughout the working day, you will be part of many meetings, sometimes requesting to show the project at these meetings;</li><li>A computer with a good setup: Each project will be different and will require a specific set of tools and technologies. Therefore, investing in a computer with minimal specifications is essential.&nbsp;&nbsp; Here it’s my suggestion:<ul style="list-style-type:circle;"><li>i5, i7 or higher processor;&nbsp;</li><li>16gb of ram;&nbsp;</li><li>240gb ssd (minimum);&nbsp;</li><li>Some projects may require a graphics card depending on the type of application;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dual-boot Windows and Linux or MacOS (more than one operating system allows you to configure your desktop more simply). In many projects, Windows is not the most suitable operating system, so knowledge of Linux and MacOS is essential.</li></ul></li></ul><h2>First practical tip</h2>The first step to getting a remote job is to be seen internationallyTherefore, update your LinkedIn! In general, recruiters use LinkedIn as a search platform and you must invest some time in your profile doing the following:<ul><li>English Version: As recruiters are generally working in English and use filter options, they will use English terms to search for people. Instead of desenvolvedor de sistemas, they will search as “software developer” or “software engineer” for example. If your profile is in Portuguese, you will be out of their search options;</li><li>Specify all the technologies you used in your previous experiences: After finding your profile, the recruiters will try to understand your professional background to match that opportunity. The main section they take into account is ‘Professional Experience’ and that’s where you need to ‘sell your fish’. When talking about a company in your ‘resume’, focus on detailing the projects you developed, specifying the tools and technologies used. If possible, mention your main contribution to the project and the challenges you faced;</li><li>Recommendations and skills: These sections show the recruiters your relationship with co-workers in previous companies. Não necessariamente o ponto de partida e o local de chegada são locais físicos, afinal para os desenvolvedores o mundo não é um local estático e independente de onde estejamos podemos reprogramar o código do nosso sucesso. Para alcançar esse sucesso, uma estratégia de ultrapassar fronteiras ‘virtuais’ vem sendo incorporada na vida de muitos programadores e profissionais de TI. Em 2020, o trabalho remoto cresceu exponencialmente, diferente dos anos anteriores, onde havia apenas um pequeno crescimento destas posições remotas. A tendência é que este número aumente ainda mais, apesar de muitas empresas ainda exigirem o trabalho presencial, segundo análise desenvolvida por Rinzewind [Fig. 1].Fig 1. Por exemplo, organizo meu dia da seguinte forma:<ol><li>Tempo para reuniões de trabalho (em média 1h a 1h30 por dia)</li><li>Tempo para se atualizar com as principais demandas do mercado através de consultorias, cursos e leituras em geral (em média 1h por dia)</li><li>Tempo para concretizar a realização dos projetos, pessoais e/ou vinculados a uma empresa (em média 5 horas por dia)</li><li>Tempo para planejar seu futuro profissional, alinhado com seus sonhos de vida, seja a escrita de artigos, um pet project ou o desenvolvimento de uma empresa de TI (no mínimo 1 hora por dia)</li></ol><h2>Comparação salarial entre países</h2>O Brasil não é um dos países que pagam menos aos programadores, mas como podem ver na tabela abaixo [Tabela 1], outros países, como a Noruega, Dinamarca e Estados Unidos, pagam quase o dobro aos seus desenvolvedores.Por que será que tantos indianos estão trabalhando remotamente? Vale a pena investir em uma posição remota em Portugal? Veja a tabela abaixo e comente sua opinião abaixo:Tabela 1. Os valores brutos presentes nesta tabela equivalem ao salário médio de um desenvolvedor nível sênior.Obs. Note que os valores foram convertidos em dólar para esta lista.Outra informação interessante é que recentemente o Canadá está adotando uma estratégia de contratação de brasileiros de forma presencial, no entanto, é essencial falar Francês, ao menos para trabalhar na região de Quebec (não apenas inglês). Um ponto positivo para quem busca morar no país é o fato de oferecerem visto de trabalho para você e seu companheiro, além de um salário competitivo e uma excelente qualidade de vida (apesar do frio).Outro ponto que achei relevante refletir aqui:&nbsp;Por que será que, em média, PHP, R, SQL pagam menos do que JAVASCRIPT? Um aspecto (mas não uma regra) é que as linguagens mais comuns (mais utilizadas pelos desenvolvedores) podem ser desvalorizadas com o tempo [Fig. 2]. Portanto, uma dica é que vale a pena investir em linguagens com uma barreira de entrada maior, como o C++ (principalmente se você quer ganhar em euro na Alemanha ou Áustria). É claro que após uma entrevista (geralmente em inglês) estas empresas enviam um teste de algoritmo para ser desenvolvido, marcam uma sessão de live-coding, ou até mesmo um projeto a ser executado (que pode variar de poucas horas até uma semana para ser desenvolvido). Vale ressaltar que as empresas estrangeiras são extremamente detalhistas, assim, qualquer código incorreto pode levar à reprovação.Nos próximos posts desta série, abordarei especificamente o processo seletivos das empresas estrangeiras.Um ponto positivo é que muitas das empresas europeias não exigem o idioma local, como Alemão, mas exigem o inglês fluente. Outro ponto positivo (além do salário) é o fato destas empresas promoverem um ambiente de trabalho interativo, cursos de alemão, entre outros benefícios aos desenvolvedores.Fig 2. Por exemplo, começar como um estagiário em uma empresa alinhada com seu propósito, e, posteriormente, evoluir para algo maior é válido e recomendado. Um benefício é que algumas empresas oferecem equipamento para trabalho remoto e possibilidade de aumento salarial após alguns meses. Além disso, após pouco tempo de experiência nestas empresas estrangeiras, um leque de oportunidades começam a surgir: salários maiores, trabalhos mais alinhados com seus propósitos e crescimento profissional. Por exemplo, ao invés de visar um trabalho que pague 10 mil dólares por mês (ampla possibilidade de rejeição), vise um trabalho que pague de 3 a 4 mil dólares por mês, adquira experiência, conhecimento e confiança e passe para uma próxima etapa quando estiver preparado. A grande maioria dos programadores que hoje trabalham nas empresas referência em desenvolvimento de software passaram por pequenas startups para adquirir uma experiência prévia.3. Pre-requisitos para se tornar um desenvolvedor remotoSer um profissional remoto, trabalhando de casa e ainda ganhando em dólar é realmente muito atraente. Porém, tudo o que é bom não vem fácil. Ao longo da minha experiência como desenvolvedor remoto, levantei os seguintes requisitos para conquistar uma vaga remota:<ul style="list-style-type:circle;"><li>Domínio técnico das ferramentas e tecnologias: Aqui estou pressuponto que você é um profissional com um algum tempo de experiência na TI;</li><li>Conversação intermediária em inglês: A comunicação é parte essencial de todo o trabalho, e para uma vaga remota é ainda mais importante, uma vez que as equipes estão espalhadas por todo o mundo. Conseguir entender e transmitir ideias e conceitos mesmo que a nível intermediário é fundamental para se conseguir uma vaga remota e ter sucesso ao longo do tempo. Clique aqui e veja algumas plataformas para praticar conversação em inglês:</li><li>Conexão de internet rápida e estável: Ao longo do dia de trabalho, você fará parte de muitas reuniões, precisará apresentar o trabalho que está sendo desenvolvido e interagir com os seus colegas de trabalho;</li><li>Um computador com uma boa configuração: Cada projeto será diferente e exigirá um conjunto de ferramentas e tecnologias específicas para rodar no seu ambiente local. Para não passar sufoco, investir em um computador com especificações mínimas é essencial. Segue a minha sugestão:</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;">Processador i5, i7 ou superior;</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;">16gb de memória ram;</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;">240gb ssd (no mínimo);</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;">Alguns projetos podem pedir placa gráfica dependendo do tipo de aplicação (mais raro);</li><li style="box-sizing:border-box;">Dual-boot Windows e Linux ou MacOS, o domínio de mais de um sistema operacional te dará liberdade para configurar o seu ambiente de trabalho de forma mais simples.
